In this class we will be making the beautiful Spectra Scarf by Stephen West while learning three different techniques to create short rows. Then you can finish the scarf using your favourite or a combination for practice.

Short rows are commonly found in sweaters to raise the back of the neckline, or used to turn the heel of a sock. This technique is done by not working all of the stitches in the row, turning mid-row, and working back the other way. There are multiple ways of doing this so that there is not a little hole left where the work was turned mid-row.

Skills required for this class include knit, purl, casting on and binding off.
Materials needed: Spectra pattern (can be purchased HERE), two 100g skeins of fingering weight yarn: optional one in a solid colour and one self striping (eg Noro), and 3.75mm needles, 24" circular or straight needles are acceptable.
Learning Outcomes: Wrap & turn short rows, Japanese short rows, and German short rows, as well as intarsia colourwork.
