In this 3 session online class we will make 3 different mini knit ornaments: a mitten, a hat and a stocking, one per session.
In week one we will make the mitten. You will have the option to do a contrast cuff. We will learn how to make one left and make one right (M1L and M1R), how to separate stitches on waste yarn or a stitch holder, and how to complete the thumb. You do not need to have prior experience knitting mittens.
In week two we will make the sock. Again you will have the option to do a contrast cuff, heel and toe. We will learn German short rows to turn the heel. Experience sock knitting is not required.
In the third class we will make a hat. There will be an optional colourwork section in the body of the hat.
Learning outcomes: german short rows, M1L & M1R, separating for the thumb.
Required skills: knitting in the round on DPNs or magic loop.
Materials: US 3 /3.25mm DPNs, 25g of DK weight yarn, approx. 75yds in total, split between two colours as desired for contrasting colours, darning needle, scrap yarn or stitch holder.
