What is the Ravellenics?

Formerly known as the Knitting Olympics, this competitions was started in 2006 by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee aka the Yarnharlot on her blog. Here is the original post with the rules and signups for that year. The concept was pretty simple: knit a whole project during the olympic games. I went to go look up the Ravelry page for my olympic project, and then realized I joined Ravelry in 2007, one full year after my first participation in the first iteration of this competition! Knitted Knockers

Many of you know that I am an American, and that I used to live in Maine several years ago. At that time my LYS was a small shop in Brunswick, ME called The Knitting Experience, and it was run by a lovely woman named Chesley. I base a lot of my guiding philosophy at Passionknit on how she ran her shop. WWCD, what would Chesley do? She was always warm, friendly and welcoming. Eventually I learned that the reason Chesley quit her "normal job" and decided to open a yarn shop was because she was a breast cancer survivor.
